Abstract
The Himalaya, the youngest and the tallest folded mountain range of the world, is frequently affected by natural disasters.18 In the form of flash floods, cloudbursts or glacial lake outburst floods, the entire Himalayan region is highly vulnerable to natural hazards.

In this context, the State of Uttarakhand of the Indian Himalayan Region has been the most vulnerable one among all the natural disaster-affected states in India.
