Development of the learners’ writing skills

This paper consists of materials which are meant to cater
for the needs of Greek primary state school learners around 12 years old. These
materials focus mainly on the development of the learners’ writing skills and are
also accompanied by notes for the teacher, guiding him/her throughout the teaching
process. In an attempt to provide an understanding of the general framework within
which the materials can be used, the teaching context in detail as well as the teaching
approach that these materials follow has been presented in depth.

SWOT Analysis as an Effective Tool for Creating an
Effective Academic in the Higher Education System in Sri Lanka

An effective academic holds a main responsibility in
higher education system for its quality improvement. Therefore any strategic planning
of the system should be aligned with creating an effective academic. In this regard,
analyzing their views is a vital aspect that educational administrators should consider.
In this study we have identified and categorized the views of academics as strength,
opportunity, weakness and threat. SWOT analysis was used as an effective tool for
that diagnosis. It was further analyzed with respect to the designation of the academic
in order to emphasize the requirement of junior staff members. According to the
results of the SWOT analysis suggestions have been made in detail. Finally our objective
of this study is to provide a base document about academics’ views towards the quality
improvement of higher education in Sri Lanka and hence to create a comfortable environment
for the academic for being an effective academic.
