Differences in College Readiness Rates between Asian
Boys and Girls in Texas High Schools: A Statewide, Multiyear Analysis
Mitchell Brad L., Slate John R.*, Moore George W. and Martinez-Garcia Cynthia
For this investigation, the extent to which differences
in college-ready rates were present in reading, mathematics and both subjects for
Asian boys and Asian girls in Texas high schools for 2005-2006 through 2011-2012
was determined. College-ready rates in reading, mathematics and both subjects for
Asian boys and Asian girls were obtained from the Texas Education Agency. Of the
21 analyses, 20 results were statistically significant with 16 trivial and four
small effect sizes. Asian boys had higher mathematics college-ready rates than Asian
girls whereas Asian girls had higher reading and both subjects’ college-ready rates.
Large increases in college-ready rates for Asian boys and Asian girls were observed
for 2005-2006 through 2008-2009 compared to 2008-2009 through 2011-2012. Implications
were provided.

Taming Psychosomatic Diversities: Art and Circus as
Cultural Spaces for Self-Fulfillment of Males with Rare Health Conditions: Andragogic
Analysis of Life-Cycles
Borowska-Beszta Beata
This article is a review of two case studies of male
with psychosomatic diversities and the valorized international fame because of artistic
expressions. They both were born in 19th century in Europe. The text is not a clinical
study but is an andragogic analysis of the lives of two famous artists: Henri de
Toulouse-Lautrec, French painter and Polish circus artist Stephan Bibrowski (Lionel).
They both were characterized by a binary meant uniqueness. Each artist had a rare
health condition and syndrome resulting in a psychosomatic diversity and also each
of them has revealed spectacular artistic talent and international fame. The main
goal of the article is answering the question: how both artists tamed their own
psychosomatic diversities? The text includes the andragogic life-cycles analysis
of life patterns of both males in the context of cultural spaces; the spaces in
which they were successful. Paper also contains two clinical descriptions of pycnodysostosis
and congenital hypertrichosis, however clinical view is complementary to analyzed
cases.
