Ghosh Anupam, Mitra Dipa and Sarkar Amitava

cost of fuel. Any rise in fuel prices leads to a demand from the bus operators for
increasing passenger fares. However, as a public good, it is necessary to price

robust and answers most questions rather than leave them to assumptions. The purpose
of this paper is to develop a bus fare pricing model that can be applied for fixing
fares for public buses in Kolkata. The paper also illustrates how the model can
be used to determine future bus fares in Kolkata.
