Abstract
The green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using the medicinal plant Coleus
aromaticus presents an eco-friendly alternative to conventional methods. This approach
utilizes plant extracts rich in bioactive compounds that act as reducing and stabilizing
agents, facilitating the formation of AgNPs. The characterization of these nanoparticles
is crucial for understanding their properties and potential applications. In this,
the efficiency of leaf, stem and root extracts of coleus aromaticus prepared using
ethanol as reducing agent was explored.
When the extracts were mixed with silver nitrate solution, formation of nanoparticles
occurred indicated by the colour change. The synthesised nanoparticles were characterized
using UV-Vis, FT-IR, XRD and FE-SEM.
