Abstract
Quinoline-8-thioglycolic acid, quinaldine-8-thioglycolic acid and their derivatives
have been synthesized. All the newly prepared compounds were evaluated for their
antibacterial activity against five bacterial strains viz. Staphylococcus aureus,
Staphylococcus albus, Ps. pyocyanea, Proteus and Escherichia coli. Some transition
metal chelates of Quinoline-8-thioglycolic acid and Quinaldine-8-thioglycolic acid
were found to be active against pathogenic bacteria.
